He was stuck at $3K MRR. 8 months later, he is doing $207K per month

Two years ago, Nevo David had a SaaS in the most crowded niche imaginable, social media scheduling, sitting at $3K MRR. It stayed there for months.

Today Postiz does over $207K per month, grows around $1K every single day, and he never raised a cent.

I recorded a podcast with Nevo last week to figure out what changed. I came out of it realizing I do almost no marketing. You can watch the full episode on youtube, but I pulled out the five lessons I keep thinking about.

1. Nobody wants your tool. They want the outcome.

For a year Nevo sold Postiz the way everyone sells software: “schedule posts to all your social channels.” A problem that was solved 15 years ago. People shrugged.

Then he noticed n8n creators using Postiz inside their automation templates. So he stopped talking about scheduling and started talking about “here’s a template that makes viral TikTok slideshows.” Postiz was just one node in the workflow.

Same product. Completely different demand. People weren’t searching for a scheduler anymore, they were searching for a way to go viral, and his tool happened to be part of the answer.

Here’s the thing: this applies even more to our apps. Nobody downloads a “habit tracker.” They download “finally sticking to a morning routine.” Your screenshots, your TikToks, your onboarding should sell that, not the feature list.

2. Go where attention is free.

Nevo had zero audience when he started. So he launched everything on Reddit, in r/selfhosted, where being open source meant people actually wanted his self-promotion. Every post got 200K+ views.

Later it was X, where the algorithm now shows your post to people interested in the topic, not to your followers. He wrote an article with 200 followers and it got half a million views.

The platform changed. The principle didn’t: find the one place where there is a lot of eyeballs right now, and post there relentlessly. For us that place is TikTok. That’s why our slideshow got a million views from an account with basically no following.

3. Ride hypes, but don’t marry them.

MCP got hot, he shipped an MCP for Postiz. OpenClaw came out, he wrote a skill the same week and got 700 trials a day. Every new agent since, same play.

He knows every hype dies. That’s the point. He doesn’t bet the company on one trend, he just makes sure he’s in the front row of every trend that touches his product. The use case never changes, only the buzzword in the headline.

4. Amplify what works

This is the part I didn’t expect him to say out loud.

Every X article he publishes gets 100K+ views, minimum. Not because of luck. He writes an article (articles get more reach than posts because people stay longer), then pays creators to quote-repost it in a 15-minute window so the algorithm sees a spike. $80 to $350 per repost, all with the paid promotion tag.

Can’t afford that? He gave the free version: post one piece of content Monday, then quote-repost it yourself every day with a new angle. One of those days it catches.

I’m not saying go spend $300 on reposts. I’m saying he treats distribution as a system he engineers, and most of us treat it as something that happens to us.

5. The plateau is the process.

My favorite answer of the whole episode. I asked what the voice in his head said during the year at $3K.

He said: nothing dramatic. He kept consulting on the side so the SaaS didn’t have to feed him. He came from the pre-AI world where you didn’t pivot every month because building took too long. And he’d watched enough companies to know year one is marketing with no results, year two is when it pays.

Everyone building a new app every four weeks is restarting from zero each time: zero brand, zero backlinks, zero people talking about them. He put two years into one product and now every unit of effort compounds.

That’s it. Five lessons, one theme: he’s a developer who decided marketing was the actual job.
